OLD ORCHARD BEACH – The wedding of Meghan Elizabeth Asquith and Daniel Patrick Diffin was held at 7 p.m. on July 22 at Danton Towers, overlooking the beach at Old Orchard Beach. Ronald Lebel, godfather of the bride, officiated at the ceremony.
Mrs. Diffin is the daughter of Kathi Asquith of Greene and the late Robert Asquith. Mr. Diffin is the son of Christine Diffin of Oxford and Ronald Diffin of Poland.
The bride, given in marriage by her mother, wore a strapless gown of layered organza and embroidered with crystals. All the flowers were provided and arranged by the bride’s cousin, Shearon Murphy. Mrs. Murphy also spoke at the ceremony, providing the ship’s bell in the Irish bell ceremony. The bride’s godmother, Joanne Lebel, also spoke during the ceremony, on the merits of a good relationship.
The maids of honor were Bethany and Heather Asquith, sisters of the bride, Amanda Diffin, sister of the bridegroom, and Vanessa Veilleux, best friend of the bride.
Adam Greenlaw, best friend of the bridegroom, performed the duties of best man, and groomsmen were Greg, Eric and Mat Diffin, brothers of the bridegroom.
The reception was held on the grounds. The couple spent their wedding night at the White Barn Inn in Kennebunkport. They spent a week in Maui, Hawaii, for their honeymoon in August. The couple resides in Lewiston.
The bride is a 1999 graduate of Leavitt Area High School and a 2003 graduate of the University of Maine at Orono with a bachelor’s degree in public administration. She is employed as activities coordinator at Market Square Health Care Center in South Paris.
The bridegroom is a 2000 graduate of Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School and received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 2004. He is employed at Pinkham and Greer in Falmouth.
