NEWRY – The wedding of Sarah E. Coolidge and Christopher J. DeCato was held at 5 p.m. on Sept. 23 at the Sunday River artist’s covered bridge in Newry. Ellie Andrews, notary public, officiated at the ceremony.
Mrs. DeCato is the daughter of Victor Coolidge and Judy Coolidge, both of Bethel. She is the granddaughter of Ernest and Alberta Angevine, also of Bethel. Mr. DeCato is the son of Dana DeCato and the late Danny DeCato of Norway. He is the grandson of Helen DeCato of South Paris and Merlene Martin of Norway.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. Misty Hutchins, friend of the bride, served as maid of honor, and best man was Todd Truman, cousin of the bridegroom. Attending the couple were their sisters, Victoria Coolidge, Jessica Coolidge, Kathryn Coolidge and Shelby DeCato, as well as niece, Bailey Wood. Santana Wilson, cousin of the bride, was the guest greeter.
Elaine Michaud, accompanied by acoustic guitar, sang “The Wedding Song,” by Peter, Paul and Mary for the processional, and “Into the Mystic” by Van Morrison.
A reception followed at the Phoenix House and Well in Newry, after which the couple traveled to the Mt. Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, N.H. A honeymoon is planned for St. Lucia in February.
Guests attended from California, New Mexico, Arizona, North Carolina, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and Australia.
The bride is a 1994 graduate of Telstar High School and a 1998 graduate of the University of Southern Maine, with a bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation and a minor in health. She is a licensed massage therapist and will be completing her nursing degree in December from the University of Southern Maine.
The bridegroom is a 1989 graduate of Oxford Hills High School and a 1993 graduate of Thomas College in Waterville with a bachelor’s degree in business education. He is employed at H.A. Mapes in Sanford.
The couple is residing in Auburn.
