FARMINGTON – Dancers from the University of Maine at Farmington will be the centerpiece of this month’s contemporary worship at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at Old South Congregational Church. The worship is titled “Giving Thanks: A Celebration.”

The dance group is directed by UMF professor Margaret Gould Wescott and features approximately 15 student dancers from the university. Among the works to be performed will be “Grandmothers,” a celebration that combines movement, music and the spoken word to honor recent ancestors.

The worship will also feature music from Shepherd’s Pie, the alternative Christian rock band, and rhythms from the Old South women drummers.

Contemporary worship is held the second Thursday of each month at Old South Church, located on Main Street in downtown Farmington. Admission is free and all are welcome. Coffee and snacks will be served following the worship. For more information, contact 778-0424.
