WEST PARIS – Plans are in place for the town’s Veterans Day observance sponsored by the Ring McKeen American Legion Post.

Auxiliary member Sylvia McCann said the ceremonies will begin with a parade starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at Agnes Gray School. Participants will march to the town’s War Memorial at Maple and Main streets in the village center. A new monument listing will be dedicated.

“The new monument will stand beside the existing stone to make room for a few World War II veterans who were left off from the original as well as names from the Korean War, Vietnam, Desert Storm and Iraq” wars, McCann said.

The ceremony at the memorial will include patriotic songs, prayers and words honoring men and women from West Paris and across the country.

McCann said $6,000 has been raised for the project, and $1,000 is needed to pay for the stone. Anyone wishing to help may contact McCann at 674-2114.
