Jack Utter of Newton, N.J., sits on the sidewalk on Main Street in Farmington after he was struck by a car driven by Buzz Davis of Farmington, who is leaning on the hydrant. Patrick Spiotta of Jay was a witness and called an ambulance for Utter. Utter said he tried to get his foot out of the way and said Davis told him he didn’t see him. “Accidents happen,” Utter said. Farmington police officer Brian Ross said the oil truck Spiotta was driving north on Main Street stopped to let Utter cross in the crosswalk from the Kyes Insurance side over to TD Banknorth side, and Davis, who was on upper Broadway, didn’t know why the truck was stopped and drove into the intersection. Ross said Davis said he didn’t see Utter in the crosswalk.
