I am writing about a letter Sept. 7 from Brant Remington of Lewiston, responding to a column by Mark Laflamme about Laflamme feelings about going back to school. Remington felt Laflamme was wrong to judge teachers. I agree with him.

Some do enjoy going back to school. As a student, I know how things are. I think teachers do much for us. Going to school gets us an education. Plus, not all teachers are very old.

Maybe if you were a better student, you would have liked going back to school. Everyone has moments when they wouldn’t like to be called on, but if you had paid attention to what the teachers were trying to teach, perhaps they would not have felt it necessary to call on you.

Some of us want to have a good future.

As a student, I probably don’t take the Laflamme’s language as offensive, but I know that since I’m a kid, I have teachers who are cool and some not so much. Your assumptions hurt me. Not all teachers in my school are old. All of them care about how we do, and are there if we need help.

Sometimes I don’t wish to attend school, but since I try, it is easy sometimes and I know that my hard work will pay off. I enjoy school. I feel if Laflamme had made better choices, he would have liked it more.

Like people tell me, “school is as much fun as you make it.”
