I recently read an article in the Sun Journal on Sept. 7 concerning Mr. William Wheeler from the Board of Selectman in Waterford. To my understanding, Wheeler left the board because he was under a great amount of stress and this affected his family. Because of this, Wheeler left the board before a new vote could be taken by the townspeople to fill his position.
In my opinion, Wheeler had a right to leave because everyday people have pressure from their jobs, and in this case, at home as well. Although I believe that Wheeler should not have left his position, I also feel that if he was having problems, then he had to do what was best. Family should always come first before your job.
As a conclusion, Mr. Wheeler should have had a right to leave the board. In my opinion, if someone cannot do their job at the time when needed, then let them leave without any hassle.
