Oxford Hills picks students of month

PARIS – Students of the Month for November at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School are Michael Maurice, freshman; Kyra Gould, sophomore; Monica Wilson, junior; and Lindsey Rosenberg, senior. This year begins the seventh of the Rotary Club’s sponsorship of this program.

Each month high school staff members nominate students who they feel have “made a difference in their classroom.” The goal of the program is to reward teamwork, positive behavior, extra effort and good student citizenship.

The program is coordinated through the Oxford Hills Community Education Exchange and is part of the character education curriculum at the high school. The nomination form lists character traits from which to choose when nominating students and explaining why that particular student exhibits those traits.

These four students were praised for their positive influence on their classmates by showing respect, honesty, generosity, integrity compassion and leadership.

The students’ names and picture are placed on a plaque that hangs in the hallway across from the school library. Each month the four students have lunch with the principal and on Nov. 1 they were honored at a Rotary breakfast. In addition this year, each student received their own individual plaque donated by George and Jean Rubly of Lake Region Awards.
