SELINSGROVE, Pa. – First-year students at Susquehanna University experienced the value of helping others during their first week on campus.

On Aug. 26, more than 500 students, faculty and staff participated at one of 27 volunteer project sites in Selinsgrove and surrounding communities.

The event, named SU G.I.V.E (Susquehanna University Get Into Volunteer Experiences), introduces first-year students to Susquehanna’s tradition of service and leadership.

Local students who participated were:

Livermore: Malley O’Shea, a graduate of St. Dominic Regional High School of Auburn and the daughter of Annie and Dan O’Shea.

Lewiston: Joshua Rivet, a graduate of Lewiston High School and the son of David and Maria Rivet of Lewiston.

Poland: Chelsea Gerard, a graduate of Poland Regional High School and the daughter of Laurie and Kim Gerard.
