Here’s a creative tip from FamilyFun’s “My Great Idea” book ($16.95):

“When I was pregnant with my daughter, Savannah, my two sons, Sam, age six, and Noah, four, would incessantly ask me, “When is our sister coming?” To help them understand that she couldn’t be rushed, I had them make a pink-and-white paper chain with 100 links, one for each day until the baby was due. Every night, they would take turns cutting a link off the chain. It showed them just how much time it takes for a baby to be born.”
