AVON – Eric Beal recently completed his training in the U.S. Army at the Patriot Missile Training Base at Fort Bliss, Texas.

Beal enlisted in the Army in September of 2002, completed basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C., then went on to AIT training at Fort Bliss. While in training, Beal received two Good Conduct Medals, two Army Achievement Medals and an Army Commendation Medal.

He also received three commendations from the Fort Bliss commander and the brigade commander for his unit’s constant level of operational ability. Beal was the system maintenance crew chief and a squad leader for his battery.

He has recently joined the Massachusetts National Guard as a paralegal specialist. Beal graduated in the class of 2002 from Mt. Abram High School in Salem and is enrolled in York Community College, studying psychology. He is the son of Rick and Elaine Beal of Mendon, Vt., formerly of Avon.
