LEWISTON – Trinity Jubilee Center’s Care Walk 2006 was held on Nov. 4, with more than 40 people walking laps around Kennedy Park throughout the day. Walkers raised more than $3,500 for the center, a nonprofit soup kitchen and emergency food pantry dedicated to advocacy for those in need in the greater Lewiston-Auburn area.

Lewiston Maineiacs mascot Lewy was on hand to shake hands, pose for photographs and walk with participants, like 10-year-old Becca Hale. “Walking with Lewy was fun – he was the only warm one here,” she said.

Event Planner Dell Gray was pleased with the event. “We raised money for the center, heightened the community’s awareness as to what we do, and had fun in the process.” Gray is already planning next year’s walk.

Information on volunteering at the center can be obtained by calling 782-5700 or e-mailing jubilmin@gwi.net.
