LEWISTON – A surprise 40th wedding anniversary party was held recently for Robert and Anita Desjardins of Lewiston, at the home of their son. The event was planned by their children, Andrew and Susan Desjardins and Amy and Daniel Boclair, along with family members.

Mr. Desjardins and the former Anita Nolin were married on Oct. 1, 1966, at Holy Family Church in Lewiston.

Original wedding attendants present were Marc Jalbert, best man, Claire Caron Jalbert, maid of honor, Dolly Desjardins Long, cousin of Mr. Desjardins, Joseph Nolin, brother of Mrs. Desjardins, Rachel Desjardins Pratt, junior bridesmaid, sister of Mr. Desjardins, and Ann Nolin Vallieres, sister of Mrs. Desjardins. A toast was given by Marc Jalbert and Joseph Nolin.

A very special cake was made by Christopher Nolin, nephew of the couple.

Mrs. Desjardins is a 1963 graduate of Lewiston High School and is employed in the commercial department at TD Banknorth in Lewiston.

Mr. Desjardins is a 1961 graduate of Lewiston High School and served with the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Neo Kraft Signs this year.

They were both involved in Scouting for 25 years.

Grandchildren of the couple are Katie and Victoria Desjardins, Sierra and Bryan Veilleux and Nolin Boclair, who also helped make the day special.
