PORTLAND (AP) – Driver inattention and speed were the likely causes of a truck crash on Interstate 295 that seriously injured the driver and spilled a load of frozen lobsters, Maine State Police said Monday.
Stephen Belliveau, 26, of Lower East Pubnico, Nova Scotia, was being treated for multiple injuries at Maine Medical Center after crashing his rig shortly before midnight Sunday night, according to police.
Police had to reroute traffic and tear down the back of the truck cab to get at Belliveau, who was trapped inside.
The highway was reopened to traffic at about 5 a.m.
Police said the truck was fully loaded with frozen lobsters bound for the Boston area.
