PORTLAND – Maine Bank & Trust has announced that Ryan Smith, vice president, business banking, has recently been appointed to the board of directors for the Building Materials Exchange.
Smith, a commercial loan officer and business banking lender, joined the bank in 2002 and was previously with Pemigewasset National Bank in New Hampshire. He is a resident of Auburn.
The Building Materials Exchange was created in 1989 as a project of the Cumberland County Affordable Housing Venture, the precursor to the Maine Housing and Building Materials Exchange.
Families are eligible to become BME clients if household income is at 80 percent or less of median income in Cumberland County. Building materials at their warehouses in Sanford and Lisbon are for sale to everyone; however, clients receive an additional discount, making items even more affordable. Some “products of need” are reserved for clients only. Also, some clients receive assistance with home repairs.
