Parenteau’s first of the evening was the only goal of the first period. In the second, Providence (14-12-1-2) briefly took the lead on goals by Lashoff and Chris Collins before Aaron Rome tied it for the Pirates.

After Parenteau sent the Pirates (17-8-1-3) ahead early in the third, Walter tied it 3-3 at 5:09.

Parenteau scored the game-winner at 9:51 and Drew Miller hit an empty net with 45 seconds remaining.

Portland goalie Dov Grumet-Morris stopped 40 shots, while Providence’s Philippe Sauve made 22 saves in the loss.
