RUMFORD – The Oxford County Democrats held the annual holiday party and volunteer recognition dinner at the Rumford Eagles Hall on Dec. 14.
Gov. John E. Baldacci attended to thank area volunteers. Also in attendance were Maine Democratic Party Chairman Ben Dudley, Party Vice Chairwoman Marianne Stevens, Jess Knox, chair of the Democratic coordinated campaign, former House Assistant Majority Leader Bob Duplessie and Maggie Allen, executive director of the Maine Democratic Party.
Following dinner, Rep. John Patrick welcomed those present, and Oxford County Chairwoman Cathy Newell recognized the individual candidates.
“Our candidates are our number one volunteers,” Newell said. “The months of hard work they and their families put into their campaigns are really astounding.”
She singled out the work of Pam Pace and Sue Waterhouse in running the Rumford area Democratic office and the efforts of Jan Kubiac and Hilary Ware in the Norway office.
Newly elected office-holders attending were State Sen. Bruce Bryant, Patrick, Rep. Timothy Carter, Sheriff-elect Wayne Gallant, Register of Deeds Jane Rich and County Treasurer Mary Ann Prue. Rep. Terry Hayes sent her regrets.
The campaign efforts of Marge Medd, Roy Gedat, Reggie Arsenault, Marlee Turner, Kate Smith, Jim Bradley and Wade Rainey were recognized by the party leaders.
