PORTLAND – Lisbon Falls native Norm Karkos has been named the anchor of WMTW-TV’s morning and noon news shows, Channel 8 announced Tuesday.

Karkos will co-anchor the 5-7 a.m. program with Rachael Ruble and will anchor the noon-12:30 p.m. broadcast, the station announced in a news release.

His new assignment will begin in mid-January.

Winner of several state broadcasting awards, Karkos has been at WMTW for 15 years.

“Norm brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the morning anchor position,” said Ken Bauder, president and general manager of WMTW-TV.
