LEWISTON – Merlton R. Gould, 88, a resident of Auburn, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, at Central Maine Medical Center, after a brief illness.

He was born in Auburn, Feb. 1, 1918, the son of George and Inez (Rand) Gould Sr. He attended Auburn schools, was a 1936 graduate of Edward Little High School and was a member of the Auburn United Methodist Church.

He was a salesman for all his professional career, having been employed for Sea Rich Juice Co. as well as a salesman for roofing and siding, retiring in 1983.

Survivors include one son, Gary Gould, and his wife, Sheila, of Knoxville, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Todd Gould, and his wife, Ashley, and Krista Sagrades, and her husband, David, all of Knoxville, Tenn.; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew Sagrades and Preston Gould.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Roscoe, George and Norman.
