JAY – Kaylie DeMillo dominated both ends of the floor as Jay picked up a 65-47 victory over Winthrop in MVC girls’ basketball action Saturday.

DeMillo collected 31 points and 13 steals to lead the Tigers. Liz LeBlanc contributed 16 points, seven rebounds and four assists for Jay (5-4). Anna Smithgall paced Winthrop (2-5) with 12 points, while Kaley Ball added 11.

Mt. View 57, Oak Hill 14

THORNDIKE – Mt. View held Oak Hill to four points in the first half and cruised to a 57-14 win in KVAC girls’ basketball action Saturday.

Jen Massessa and Dakota Mandam scored 14 points apiece to lead Mt. View. Emily Sabine scored five points and Katelyn Wells four for Oak Hill (1-7).

Monmouth 57, Lisbon 41

MONMOUTH – Senior guard Brittany Scirica drained 15 points to lead Monmouth to a 57-41 victory over Lisbon in MVC girls’ basketball action Saturday.

Senior center Cortney Barrett recorded a double-double for the Mustangs (6-2) with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Junior guard Jen Lola contributed 11 points.

Heather Parry paced the Greyounds with 10 points on five field goals in the losing effort.

Mt. Abram 53, Carrabec 28

SALEM – Mt. Abram jumped out to a 17-2 first quarter lead and never looked back on its way to a 53-28 win over Carrabec Saturday night in MVC girls’ basketball action.

Brittany York led the Roadrunners (6-3) with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Kenni Norton added 10 points, five assists and six steals. Erica French led Carrabec (0-8) with 11 points.

Madison 56, Livermore Falls 52

MADISON – Lacy Ashbrook buried a 3-pointer with 40 second to go to rally Madison to a 56-52 victory over Livermore Falls.

The Andies (4-4) overcame a seven-point deficit to start the fourth quarter to grab a 52-51 lead in the final minute before Ashbrook hit her third 3-pointer of the game. Ashbrook finished with 11 points, while Margo Russell had 16 points, 12 rebounds and nine blocks.

Marjorie DeBrosky scored a game-high 22 points for Livermore Falls. Rachel Ventrella chipped in with 10 points.

Hockey

Poland/Gray-New Gloucester 4, Massabesic/OOB, 2

BIDDEFORD – Justin Milose scored the tie-breaking goal at 7:35 of the third period to lead Poland/Gray-New Gloucester to a 4-2 win over Massabesic/Old Orchard Beach in ice hockey action Saturday.

Zach Arnold, who assisted on Milose’s goal, Patrick Collins and Ben Piper added the other goals and Sean Bilodeau had 17 saves in net for Poland/Gray-New Gloucester (3-4). Jeremy Corthell turned aside 40 shots for Massabesic/OOB (0-8).

Boys’ basketball

Maranacook 81, Belfast 43

READFIELD – Ryan Martin dropped in a game-high 23 points and collected five steals as undefeated Maranacook ran away from Belfast 81-43 in KVAC boys’ basketball. Mike Poulin added 17 points for the Black Bears (8-0), including seven during a 24-point outburst by Maranacook in the second quarter. Martin also added seven points in the frame. Justin Denbow chipped in with eight points.

Jake Arthurs lead the Lions (2-7) with 11 points.

Mt. View 68, Oak Hill 63

WALES – Kevin Price scored 16 points as Mt. View held off a late Raider rally to edge Oak Hill 68-63. Ethan Jean added 12 points for the Mustangs (5-4).

Bronson Drewry netted 14 points to pace the Raiders (1-8), who closed a 13-point deficit at the start of the fourth quarter to as little a three points with defensive pressure. Chad Bussiere added 10 points for Oak Hill.

Pine Tree 90, Isleboro 23

FREEPORT – Cody Lounder scored 27 points to lead Pine Tree to a 90-23 vicotry over winless Isleboro.

Kyle Verrill and Josh Dezotell added 14 points each. Jason Hebert scored six for Isleboro.
