NEW GLOUCESTER – On Monday, selectmen adopted three policies on managing municipal government. They are:

• a redefined 26-page personnel policy, including a new section on disability accommodation, a reconfigured vacation time benefit plan, work-related travel, a new section covering the Maine Family Leave of Absence Policy and an equal employment and sexual harassment policy.

• a fraud policy formalizing the expectations of personal honesty and integrity required for town employees and officials.

• a record retention plan giving timelines for record maintenance.

Town Manager Rosemary Kulow, with input from the board and employees, completed the tasks over several months.

In other business, the board voted 4-1 to approve changing the name of the Zoning Committee to Land Management Planning Committee. The change was requested to better reflect the mission and work of the committee.

Selectman A. Wayne Cobb objected to the name change, fearing it would direct the committee to manage the town’s land.

However, the board said the committee’s charge would remain unchanged.
