LEWISTON – A New Gloucester man was arrested Wednesday night in Lewiston and charged with beating and threatening his girlfriend in an early morning attack.

Darnell W. Robinson, 20, was charged with domestic assault and criminal threatening after Lewiston police and Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department investigators tracked him to an address on Boston Avenue.

For most of the day, sheriff’s deputies had been searching for Robinson in connection with the alleged attack on his girlfriend at 154 Intervale Road in New Gloucester, where the couple had been staying.

The alleged victim was treated early Wednesday at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston and released. Further details about the assault were not available late Wednesday night.

Robinson was being held at the Cumberland County Jail in Portland on $50,000 cash bail. He was expected to make an initial court appearance on Wednesday.
