BRUNSWICK – The Theater Project will open its 10th annual Winter Cabaret Friday, Jan. 26, at 14 School St. The opening of this celebratory Winter Cabaret will be followed by a champagne reception with the cast, directors and designers.

Winter Cabaret will run for three weeks at The Theater Project, with performances Jan. 26 and 27, Feb. 2-4 and Feb. 9-11. Showtimes are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Winter Cabaret began in 1998, as a way to laugh away the winter doldrums. Short comic sketches combined with music and tasty desserts and coffee in a relaxed setting made for what has become a necessary complement to the end of the holidays and the long winter wait for spring.

This year’s Winter Cabaret provides 10 reasons to laugh: the 10 “greatest hits” from the previous nine years of Winter Cabaret.

Last year, in a special “director’s cut” performance, The Theater Project company presented a review of all the pieces they performed in the first nine years of Winter Cabaret. Audience members voted for their Top 10 titles, and patrons will see the results from Jan. 26 to Feb. 11.

This year’s cast includes Lee K. Paige, Heather Perry-Weafer, Michele Livermore Wigton, Wendy Poole, Keith Anctil, Craig Ela, Al Miller, Christopher Price and Don Weatherbee. Peter Dugas will be back at the piano with one or two of his friends for sometimes a duet and sometimes a trio of jazz. J. P. Gagnon will design and light the show.

The recommended ticket price is $15 for all Winter Cabaret performances (but bring extra change for those decadent desserts that go well with the coffee).
