LEWISTON – Rick Kidder is announcing the opening of a private practice as an alcohol and drug counselor.

The practice will be at 460 Main St. He will be available by appointment all day on Saturdays, as well as Tuesday and Thursday evenings. For more information, call 713-8001.

Kidder is a licensed alcohol and drug counselor, a licensed social worker, and has a bachelor of science degree in social work from the University of Southern Maine.

He works at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in the detox unit, and previously worked in the intensive outpatient unit.

He has also worked as an alcohol and drug counselor for Day One at the Maine Youth Center, for a small agency in Lewiston, and for Mid-Coast Hospital.

Kidder is a Lisbon resident, born and raised in Rumford. He received an associate of arts degree in applied science and machine tool from Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute, Auburn, leading to 15 years of employment at General Electric in Auburn.

He returned to college and received an associate of arts degree in social services with a concentration in substance abuse from UMA in 1997, and his bachelor’s degree in 1999.
