AUBURN – Edward Little jumped out to a 16-4 lead in the opening quarter and opened it up with a 24-6 second quarter before cruising to a 66-25 win over Leavitt on Friday in KVAC girls’ basketball.

Brittney French led EL (10-6) with 20 points while Kelsey Nicolas had 10 points and nine rebounds.

Leavitt (3-13) got 10 from Paige Dyer.

Buckfield 46, Valley 22

BINGHAM – Buckfield jumped out to a commanding 20-2 lead after the first quarter and dominated the rest of way, defeating Valley 46-22 in girls’ Class D basketball Friday.

Kacey Farrington led all scorers with 14 points while Tristen Newton and Lindsey Henderson combined for 17 points for the Bucks. Melissa Henderson also added eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Abby Jones hauled down a leading eight rebounds for the Bucks. Jessica Brown paced Valley (4-12) with seven points.

Oxford Hills 62, Gardiner 53

GARDINER – Megan Joyce scored all of her game-high 14 points in the second half to help Oxford Hills beat Gardiner 62-53 in a girls’ KVAC basketball matchup Friday.

The Vikings led 25-23 at the break and opened up a 47-38 lead after three quarters. Terry Bunce chipped in with 11 points, and Kari Pelletier contributed 10.

Britney Salley scored 14 points to lead the Tigers while Chelsea Striker netted 10.

MCI 45, Oak Hill 29

PITTSFIELD – Victoria Huff drained three 3-pointers and finished with 15 points as MCI defeated Oak Hill 45-29 in a KVAC girls’ basketball game Friday.

Jenna Lorentsen chipped in 10 points for the Huskies (10-4). Ambyr Provost led the Raiders (2-14) with seven points.

Richmond 45, Rangeley 36

RICHMOND – Brittney Carver led a balanced attack by scoring 12 points as Richmond opened up a 21-9 halftime lead and held on for a 45-36 win over Rangeley in a girls’ basketball game Friday.

The Lakers (12-5) closed to within five points in the final four minutes but could get no closer. Angela White paced the Lakers with 12 points while Hayley White added eight points and nine rebounds.

With the win, the Bobcats upped their record to 10-7.

Boys’ basketball

MCI 65, Oak Hill 47

SABATTUS – Hunter Nichols scored 23 points to lead MCI to a 65-47 win over Oak Hill Friday night in boys’ basketball Friday night.

After holding a 13-12 lead after one quarter, the Huskies outscored Oak Hill 21-14 in the third.

MCI (12-4) also got 15 from Pat McGrady and 10 from Benson Mensah-Bonsu.

The Raiders (1-15) were led by Nick Brown with 11 points and nine rebounds. Bronson Drewry added nine points and seven rebounds.

Elan 57, GPC 26

LEWISTON – Elan jumped out to a 24-10 halftime lead and kept the pressure on as it downed Greater Portland Christian 57-26 in boys’ basketball.

Turner Malcom paced Elan with 16 points while hauling down 15 rebounds. Ryan Panzone added 12 points for Elan (9-2). Jacob Thibeault led GPC (6-6) with 10 points.

Gardiner 70, Oxford Hills 53

SOUTH PARIS – Gardiner outscored Oxford Hills 21-6 in the third quarter to erase a three-point halftime deficit to down the Vikings 70-53 in boys’ class A basketball.

Senior Sean McNally scored a triple double with 23 points, 21 rebounds, and 11 blocked shots. Devon Brown and Eric Goodwin each added 11 points for the Tigers. Ethan Sutton led the Vikings with 21 points, including three 3-pointers. Trailing 15-2 in the first quarter, Oxford Hills hit five of its eight first-half 3-pointers to take the early lead.

Cony 76, Lewiston 54

LEWISTON – Andrew Pullen poured in a game-high 27 points as Cony trounced Lewiston 76-54 in boys’ Class A basketball.

Cony raced out to a 22-8 first quarter lead and never trailed. Chris Thurston chipped in with 18 points for the Rams. Jarrid Palmer led the Blue Devils (3-13) with 22 points, including four 3-pointers.

Maranacook 54, Waterville 36

READFIELD – Ryan Martin scored 21 points and had five steals to lead Maranacook Community School to a 54-36 win over Waterville on Friday in KVAC boys’ action.

Kevin Leary added seven points and four blocks for the Black Bears (15-2). Waterville (1-15) got eight from Erik Maheau.

Monmouth 68, Lisbon 46

MONMOUTH – Tyler Somerville controlled the paint with 18 points and 13 rebounds as Monmouth cruised to a 68-46 win over Lisbon in a boys’ MVC basketball game Friday.

Nate Armstrong supplemented Somerville’s effort by turning in a 17-point, nine-rebound performance as the Mustangs forced 15 turnovers in the first half. Devin Robbins added nine points while dishing out five assists and registering five steals for the Mustangs (6-10).

Scott Eck led the Greyhounds (2-14) with 18 points, with Steve Michaud scoring 11 points.

Winthrop 78, Jay 38

JAY – Winthrop burst out to a 24-10 lead in the opening quarter and went on to beat Jay 78-38 in MVC boys’ action Friday.

Sam Leclerc led the Rambers with 16 points while Mike Gingras had 15. Jay was led by Dylan Stefani with 10.

Georges Valley 80, Hall-Dale 44

THOMASTON – Nate Frisbie dumped in a game-high 33 points to help lead Georges Valley to a 80-44 triumph over Hall-Dale in boys’ MVC basketball.

Frisbie also hit four shots from behind the arc. Brandon Staples added 16 points for the Buccaneers (11-5). Tyler Cummings led the Bulldogs (6-10) with 12 points.
