Ainsley Bryant, 5, makes valentines in Sue Littlefield’s kindergarten class at Elm Street School in Mechanic Falls on Tuesday. Kindergartners have made more than 700 cards since Monday. The valentines will be sold for 10 cents each to raise money for the town’s public library, which was vandalized Jan. 23. “Hands can do bad things, but hands can do good things, too,” Littlefield stressed to her class after learning about the thousands of dollars in damage done to the library. Two members of the school’s student council helped with a benefit dinner Saturday and presented a $300 donation to help repair the damage. Students will continue to make valentines as long as there is a demand, Principal Mary Martin said. People interested in purchasing the cards may phone the school at 345-3381.
