LEWISTON – A Hudson school bus was involved in an accident Thursday as it was taking seven Lewiston children to school.

Susan Weeks, 47, was driving the full-sized bus and had stopped at a stop sign, facing south, at the intersection of Dyer and Pinewoods roads. Across the street, facing north, Christams H. Shane Jr., 35, was driving a 1995 Pontiac and had also stopped at a stop sign. According to the accident report, Shane’s vision was obscured by the sun and he didn’t see the car driving west on Pinewoods Road.

When Shane pulled into the intersection he hit the 2002 Honda, driven by Abigail Hodson, 26. The collision sent the Honda crashing into the front of the stopped school bus, police said.

No one on the bus was injured. Hodson had minor injuries.

Lewiston contracts with Hudson Bus Lines to drive its students to and from school. Damage to the bus was estimated at $500.

Damage to Shane’s Pontiac and Hodson’s Honda was estimated at $3,500 each.
