TURNER – The newly formed Turner Memorial Post 111, American Legion, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Leavitt Institute Building community room. Marine Warren K. Clark will speak on the anniversary of the raising of the American Flag at Iwo Jima on Feb. 23, 1945, and Chaplain Paul R. Bernard will remember the 16th anniversary of the start of Operation Desert Storm.

The post obtained the 15 members needed to file for its charter on Dec. 29. By the end of its second meeting on Feb. 1, the post had 45 members.

All Turner veterans not yet signed up are invited to join. All veterans who sign up in February will be listed on the permanent charter and will be submitted for posting in the Turner Museum. For more information, call Bernard at 225-3285 or visit www.maineamericanlegion.com.
