JAY – The Jay Fire Rescue Department has announced recipients of the annual awards presented during the annual February meeting.

Chief Scott Shink awarded Howie’s Welding of North Jay the Community Service Award. It was presented to Tim DeMillo and Mary Howes due to the support that they show the department by allowing employees to leave work for fire calls and work done for the department at a reduced price. The husband and wife were presented a plaque.

The Firefighter of the Year was announced. Assistant Chief Tim Toothaker presented Mike Booker with the award. Booker was presented a plaque that recognized his work and dedication.

“Mike makes most every call and spends a lot of time at the station,” said Toothaker.

The department members, guests and families were served cake and punch to celebrate the evening.
