Club to elect

MEXICO – The Mexico Trail Blazers will elect officers at a meeting at 7 tonight at the Mexico Town Hall.

Positions are president, vice president, trail master, treasurer and secretary. If these positions cannot be filled, the club will no longer be able to run. Members feel they need some new people and new ideas. Those who snowmobile and live in the Mexico area are invited to attend the meeting.

Mexico speaker

MEXICO – The Mexico Historical Society will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, at the Calvin Lyons meeting room, town hall. The evening will start with a hot dish supper. The guest speaker will be Joe Sirois of Oxford County ARC. All are welcome.

Election of officers was held in January. The new slate for 2007-2008 includes president, Connie Tutlis; vice president and curator, Bob Daigle; secretary, Bea Shaw Preblod; and treasurer, Dot Bernard.

Rich Plant of the Mexico Citizens Advisory Committee and a representative of Channel 7 attended and videotaped the group’s annual meeting to be aired on Channel 7.

Wrestling

MEXICO – Team Generations will hold wrestling workouts for beginners starting March 28. The workouts will help younger and first-time wrestlers obtain the basic fundamentals and knowledge of the sport.

The workouts will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays at the Generations Gym. Hopes are to develop a local club. Volunteers would will be needed as the workouts grow.

The group will also look for sponsors to help obtain gear, banners and T-shirts. Organizers will volunteer time, effort and the facility, with no profit intended. Older prospective wrestlers are invited to join the club to help in any and all areas.
