At 7 p.m. on Thurs., Jan. 17, Philip W. Sugg Middle School in Lisbon held their winter concert. The concert was held in the school’s gymnasium and played to a full house. The chorus, directed by Whitney Dorman, and accompanied by pianist Roy Williams, performed Hine Ma Tov and My Favorite Things from “The Sound of Music.” The string ensemble directed by Matt Watras, played Make New Friends, Trepak from “The Nutcracker,” and Dance of the Tumblers from “The Snow Maiden.” The band directed by Whitney Dorman, played The Thunderer and Chorale from Jupiter from “The Planets.”

During the concert, three solos were performed. A saxophone soloist, Shauna Riordan; Kara Casella, clarinet soloist, played Menuet and Jessica Schwartz, clarinet soloist, played Chanson. A saxophone duet was performed by Kara Casella & Shauna Riordan who played Slow Air.

At the end of the concert, the Lisbon Music Booster’s presented Ms. Dorman with a bouquet of flowers to thank her for teaching the students and for her first successful concert with our school.
