RUMFORD – Special Olympians from Androscoggin and Franklin County will compete in two days of winter competition at Black Mountain of Maine.

The winter game will be held today and Wednesday.

Approximately 100 athletes are expected to begin competition this morning in Nordic and Alpine skiing, and snowshoe races.

Following today’s preliminary time trials, the finals will start Wednesday morning. Opening Ceremonies are set for 10:30 a.m. today when the Special Olympic Torch is lighted to begin the games.

A variety of activities are planned over the two days, including snowmobile rides, banquet, bonfire, and a dance.
