RUMFORD – NewPage Rumford mill is accepting applications for its annual engineering scholarship awards. Students attending Dirigo High School, Jay High School, Livermore Falls High School, Mt. Blue High School, Mountain Valley High School, Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School or Telstar Regional High School, as well as any son or daughter of a Rumford mill employee, are eligible to apply.

Up to eight scholarships in the amount of $2,500 will be awarded to high school seniors enrolled in, or in the process of applying to, a four-year engineering bachelor of science degree program at an accredited college or university.

Applicants must be pursing a degree in a chemical, mechanical or electrical engineering field or in a pulp and paper program beginning in the fall. Applicants are required to have achieved a 85 percent high school grade point average or higher to be considered.

All qualifying students submitting a completed application, a 500-word essay and an official high school transcript on or before April 2, addressed to NewPage Rumford Mill, c/o Susan Mills, 35 Hartford St., Rumford, ME 04276, will be forwarded to a scholarship committee for award consideration.

Scholarship recipients, along with their respective schools, will be notified by NewPage Rumford mill of their award on or before May 15.
