NORWAY – Philip DuBois, administrator at Market Square Health Care Center, announced recently that resident and longtime area physician Dr. H. Richard Bean is one of 38 residents from nursing homes around the state who will be honored with an achievement award and photography exhibit in the fifth annual “Remember ME” project by the Maine Health Care Association.

Bean was nominated by Marianne Gallo, LCSW, Market Square. He was a physician in Norway after moving to the town in 1957, and he and his wife raised five children in the area.

Gallo’s nomination recounted how Bean joined the staff of Stephens Memorial Hospital shortly after it opened and learned the trade of anesthesiology. He then traveled around and served a need in the area.

DuBois said of Bean’s recognition, “The Remember ME program recognizes the significant contributions that longterm care residents have made in their communities. Dr. Bean was a natural choice for this award. We’re pleased that he will be honored for his achievements and the impact he’s made upon the Oxford Hills area.”

Remember ME is an exhibit displayed in the Hall of Flags at the State House in Augusta. There is an opening ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday, April 6, open to the public. The photo displays will remain up for a period of time after the ceremony.
