Legion dinner

RUMFORD – American Legion Post 24 will serve a boiled dinner from 4:30 p.m. until sold out today at the club on Congress Street. It is open to the public, with takeouts available by calling ahead at 369-9053.

GOP speaker

MEXICO – James Hodgkin, SAD 43 superintendent, will be the featured speaker at the Tuesday, March 13, meeting of the Oxford County Republican Committee at the Mexico Congregational (Green) Church on Main Street.

Hodgkin will speak on the governor’s proposal to consolidate school administrations throughout the state into a smaller number of units. The meeting will begin with a 5:30 p.m. social hour and 6:30 dinner, followed by the speaker and business meeting. Members will also hear a report on last month’s Lincoln Day dinner. All area Republicans are invited.

Circle to meet

RUMFORD – St. Timothy Circle 504, Daughters of Isabella, will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, in the church hall.

The committee will be Pearl Murphy, chairwoman, with Rita Colburn, Betty Dumoulin, Lillian Poirier, Laura Koch and Francis Kersey.

4-H movie

BETHEL – Seventy-four 4-H members and parents traveled to the Casablanca Theater on Dec. 21 to “Help Support 4-H at the Movies!” Night. Funds went to the National 4-H Council and to each state directly.

The “Charlotte’s Web” movie highlights a young girl enrolled in Maine 4-H and encourages her family to show their pig at the county fair.
