Modern teens are stressed with things in their life, whether it’s sports, family problems or something else. I think that the main reason teens are stressed is because of the amount of homework that they receive.

I feel that this is a problem today that needs to change. My opinion about the homework issues in Maine is although it might not look like a big problem to fellow Mainers right now, as a 7th grader, I am being overwhelmed with the amount of homework I get and I wish that I could get a break.

Throughout America, according to livescience.com, teenagers, as a result of homework, are slacking off in school and are scoring lower on test scores than expected. It also shows that teens sacrifice their sleeping time just to get their work done. Some kids, based on their after school life, will not have time for their homework because their after school time is consumed by so many other things.

But, it’s up to the kids to set their priorities straight and take responsibility for their actions.

I believe that although kids get a lot of homework, they should find time to do it. They could make time by limiting other extra activities. If they are having trouble with getting it done, parents and teachers should definitely help out.

This would improve the issue and hopefully help out teens all across America.
