First of all, thank you for answering these questions for us, Lewy. Let’s start with the early years.

What is it like, growing up larger than life?

Large and in charge. I’m calling the shots here. Why do you think the other mascots around the league never challenge me on my home turf?

Where did you grow up?

Parts unknown.

When did you realize that becoming a mascot was your true calling?

Um, excuse me? I was born this way. When did you realize you wanted to be a reporter?

What is the strangest picture you’ve had to take with a fan?

Probably on a Tilt-A-Whirl at the Oxford Fair. My favorite picture was taken with the Daisy Duke contestants at the Oxford Fair.

How do you overcome days when you just don’t feel like performing?

When you make the coin I do you can’t even think about taking an off day. I’ve got to have the bling-bling. There is no such thing as an off day for the “Lewy-man.”

On average, how many pictures do you think you take on any given night?

I lose count at 100 or so.

You seem to disappear later in games. Where do you go?

I usually hit the drive-through at Burger King around 8:30 or so. A police escort enables me to be back at the Colisee around the third period.

You went through an extreme makeover recently. Why?

Hey it’s like they say in Hollywood you know Botox is in right now. The same can be said for plastic surgery. I’m just trying to keep up with the beautiful people.

Who is your favorite Maineiac?

My best buddy Kollide is my favorite Maineiac!

If you had to pick a team other than the Maineiacs to cheer for, which team would it be?

It would have to be the Jr. Maineiacs. Those kids rock!

Boxers or briefs?

They don’t make either one in my size.

You are pretty popular now, and this interview will make you even more so. How’s your luck with the ladies, given all of this fame?

I don’t need any stinkin’ fame to have luck with the ladies. I am what I am, and that’s pretty. Did I mention I’m available for bachelorette parties? I’m single and I’m ready to mingle!

The Sun Journal regrets that Lewy was unavailable for an audio interview. His schedule was too full of appearances (public and private, we’re told), and it was all we could do to get him to answer these questions via e-mail. We thank Lewy for his participation.
