DIXFIELD – Abby Fenstermacher of Peru, a senior at Dirigo High School, has been selected to receive the 2007 Dirigo High School’s Principal’s Award, Principal Dan Hart has announced. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.
“Throughout her four years at Dirigo High School, Abby has distinguished herself as an Advanced Placement/Honors student in the classroom, a talented choral singer at regional and state competitions, a National Honor Society member, a multi-sport athlete, achieving all-conference awards, playing in conference and state tournaments, as well as most willingly provides school and community service as a peer tutor, teacher’s aide, and school ambassador for many groups visiting Dirigo High School,” said Hart.
Hart also noted, “Abby has worked diligently and unselfishly to make Dirigo High School a better school and earning a well-rounded educational experience. She very much deserves this recognition.”
Fenstermacher, Hart and other award winners and their principals will attend an Honors Luncheon at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor on Saturday, April 7. The luncheon recognizes the outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and awarding of five $1,000 scholarships.
