LEWISTON – Jesus Party Pentecostal Kids’ Church Directors Doug and Sonia Taylor have announced the April calendar of events, open to area children age 5 and up.

The youth outreach is a free faith-based domestic nonprofit organization. All events will be held at the Jesus Party Headquarters, 291 Bates St., beginning at 6 p.m., and transportation is available by calling 786-5568.

The annual Good Friday service on Friday, April 6, will offer special live music by the Taylor Family singers: Danielle, piano, Japheth, drums, Sonia and Elizabeth, vocals.

An Easter Extravaganza for Kids will be held Saturday, April 7. There will be an object lesson using 12 colorful Easter eggs containing items that symbolize the events in the Death, Burial and Resurrection of Jesus. A movie, “The Magic Boys Easter,” will tell the Easter story in a modern way. Children will have a sing-along session of old-time Sunday school songs.

The ministry will observe April as “National Child Abuse Awareness Month” on Friday, April 13. A special prayer will be offered for all abuse victims, and there will be a moment of silence and a special song, “God Answers Prayer,” by Elizabeth Taylor. Blue ribbons representing solidarity will be given to the children.

School Vacation Fun Night will be held Tuesday, April 17. The movie, “Veggie-tales, Gideon the Tuba Warrior,” will be shown and candy, popcorn and soda will be available.

On Friday, April 20, Earth Day will be observed with Taylor focusing on “Creation: From a Christian’s Perspective.” A film will be shown about Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden. Children will also discuss how they can make the world a better place. The evening will conclude with everyone joining hands and singing “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands.”

A video, “The Legend of the Three Trees,” will be shown to celebrate Arbor Day on Friday, April 27. The folktale tells of three distinct trees, each with its own hopes, dreams and aspirations. The event will conclude with the singing of “The Old Rugged Cross.”
