PARIS – The Oxford Hills Education Exchange and Oxford Hills Rotary Club have announced the March Students of the Month at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.
Chosen students are Jacob Vogel, freshman; Kaitlin Hillery, sophomore; Jessica Bernard, junior; and Ashley Iwans, senior. This is the seventh year of the Oxford Hills Rotary Club’s sponsorship of the program.
Each month, high school staff members nominate students who they feel have “made a difference in their classroom.”
The goal of the program is to reward teamwork, positive behavior, extra effort and good student citizenship. The program is coordinated through the Oxford Hills Community Education Exchange and is part of the character education curriculum at the high school.
The nomination form lists character traits from which to choose when nominating students and explaining why that particular student exhibits those traits. The four students were praised for their excitement toward learning, their kind hearts, can-do attitude, maturity and reliability.
The students’ names and picture are placed on a plaque that hangs in the hallway across from the school library. Each month the four students have lunch with the principal and on March 9, they were honored at a Rotary breakfast. In addition this year, each student received their own individual plaque donated by George and Jean Rubly of Lake Region Awards.
