FARMINGTON – Residents are invited to the biennial Community Health Visioning, a community forum to set direction for health policy in the community, to be held from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at the Ben Franklin Center’s Bass Room, Franklin Memorial Hospital.

Past visionings have led to, among other things, improved transportation services, expanded dental and mental health services, more doctors and more health education.

The 2007 forum will feature a roundtable presentation by individuals from across the region who have already taken the lead on the four identified community health priorities. The priorities are: economic stability, nutrition, physical activity and access to health care. Forum participants will learn from the community leaders what has been done already in each of the four areas, hear about future plans and identify gaps in services.

Participants will also have the opportunity to contribute ideas and perspectives in facilitated small groups. The groups will work together to develop ways to move specific ideas forward.

The Community Health Visioning process is administered by Healthy Community Coalition and sponsored by the Health Leaders Forum, HealthReach Community Health Centers, Franklin Community Health Network, University of Maine at Farmington and the United Way of the Tri-Valley Area.

Childcare will be provided, and refreshments will be served. For more information, contact Lisa Park Laflin at 654-3136, ext. 5103, or [email protected].
