LEWISTON – Androscoggin Valley Conservation District, with the Maine Forest Service, will offer a workshop for landowners, “Recognizing and Managing Terrestrial Invasives,” from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, at the USDA Service Center, 254 Goddard Road.
The workshop will be for anyone interested in which terrestrial invasives are in Maine and how to manage the unwanted species without bringing harm to the environment. Botanist/ecologist Don Cameron will be the teacher.
The forest service will lead a walk and talk field day at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 21. The field day will be at a forest harvest site near Poland and will address invasive management and forestry operations/management. A question-and-answer period will be offered during the field day. Ken Canfield with the Maine Forest Service will lead the event.
Preregistration is required. A $10 fee will be charged for each workshop meeting and must be received by Thursday, April 12. To preregister, call Jane Heikkinen at the conservation district office, 753-9400, ext. 400, between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, or after hours leave a message on the answering machine.
