LEWISTON – The Lewiston Recreation and Parks Department is accepting registrations for its girls and boys lacrosse program. Information on what youth must bring with them and details of the program will be provided at a Monday, April 2, parents meetings, by division, at the Rec Department, 65 Central Ave.
Parents with children in Divisions I will meet from 6:30 to 7 p.m. and Division II and III from 7:15 to 7:45 p.m. Children wishing to participate must be registered prior to the April 2 meeting.
Dave Haefele, Bates College athletic equipment manager/coach, will serve as director of the program, with Bridget Cailler serving as scheduling supervisor. The season will commence in April and conclude in June.
Division I will consist of seventh- and eighth-grade youth; Division II, fifth- and sixth- grade youth; and Division III, third- and fourth-grade youth.
Registration for Division III is $65 for residents ($75 nonresidents); and Division I and II, $80 for residents ($90 nonresidents). The program fee includes a 2007 jersey.
Coaches are also needed for the program, and any parent interested in becoming a coach/assistant coach must fill out a coaches’ registration form and background check form available at the Recreation Department. No prior knowledge of lacrosse is needed, as introduction to the game/training will be provided in an instructional coaching clinic.
