OTISFIELD – An Oxford man with two prior convictions of drunken driving and no license was arrested Thursday night after he crashed a truck on Gore Road and fled the scene, State Police Trooper Kristy Morrison said Friday night.

Robert Frigge, 47, of Mechanic Falls Road is charged with operating under the influence, operating without a license, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to give notice of accident by quickest means, Morrison said.

The trooper responded to a report of a truck crashed into a pole at 3:55 p.m. near 438 Gore Road and found a 1984 GMC demolished and the snapped pole on top of it.

“Wires were down everywhere,” the trooper said, and the driver was gone.

Trooper Adam Fillebrown and his tracking dog were called to help, and about 3 hours later Frigge was found by a stonewall in a field near Bow Street, Morrison said.

“He was just kind of hunkered down and trying to hide,” she said. “He had a minor scratch on his face.”

Frigge was arrested and taken to the Oxford County Jail in Paris.

Morrison said Frigge was driving south toward Oxford when he attempted to round a corner, went off the right side of the road, overcorrected and struck the pole.

The truck belonged to his friend, Barbara Ronkko of Oxford, Trooper Morrison said late Friday night.

Also assisting Morrison were MSP Trooper Kyle Tilsley, Oxford Police Department and Oxford County Sheriff’s Office.
