LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club will meet at noon Thursday, April 5, at the Ramada Inn.

Members will hear a presentation by Michelle Hathaway, director, and Mark Steege, PhD, clinical director of the Margaret Murphy Center for Children, John F. Murphy Homes Inc.

Their presentation will highlight a brief overview of autism spectrum disorders and will include some discussion of the impact a child or children with autism has on family life.

Hathaway has been with John F. Murphy Homes for the last nine years. She is a former member of the board of directors of the Autism Society of Maine and a former teacher and developmental therapist for children with autism.

Steege has worked with John F. Murphy Homes for the last 15 years. He is director of the school psychology program at the University of Southern Maine and has specialized in the use of applied behavior analysis with people with autism and developmental disabilities for more than 25 years. He is the writer of many published research articles and two books, as well as being a presenter at hundreds of conferences and training seminars throughout the country.
