LEWISTON – HealthSteps, a health education and prevention program for adults, offers a wide range of classes with the core membership fee and a variety of specialty classes.
A Little Bit of Latin for beginners will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays. Participants will learn some basic dance steps to such Latin dances as the Rhumba, Merengue and Cha Cha. Classes will be held April 9, 16, 23 and 30, led by Diane Williams at d’Youville Pavilion Dining Room. Cost is $50 a couple.
Ashtanga Yoga, Primary Standing Series, is a beginner class in an athletic vinyasa format (meaning poses and breath energetically flow together into the next sequence of movements). Wear loose clothing or a leotard, avoid eating one to two hours before class and bring a yoga mat and water bottle.
It will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays, April 4 to May 16 and May 30 to June 27 with Heidi Audet as instructor. Cost is $40 a session. It will be held at the Lepage Large Conference Room, 99 Campus Ave.
Tobacco cessation counseling sessions will help participants gain an understanding of the quitting process. Included is a packet of materials to help individuals quit on their own.
There will also be three sessions offered with a smoking cessation coach to set a quit date and work through the quitting process. They are by appointment only. Single session are $30; multi-session, $60.
