Class luncheon

RUMFORD – The Class of 1945 of Stephens High School will hold a luncheon at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at the Covered Wagon. Those planning to attend should call Muriel at 545-2709 or Anita at 364-4749.

Author to visit

RUMFORD – Kathy Lynn Emerson, author, will visit the Rumford Public Library at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 17. There will be question and discussion time after the program. Everyone is welcome to the free event.

Program extended

RUMFORD – Gary Raymond, executive director for USDA’s Farm Service Agency of Oxford County, has announced that the agency has extended the sign-up deadline for the 2007 direct and counter-cyclical program to Aug. 3.

Problems with the the agency’s Web-based computer system caused officials to extend the deadline in order to ensure adequate opportunity for all producers to participate in the sign-up.

While the deadline is extended, the cut-off for participation remains Sept 30. Those producers failing to sign up by Aug. 3, but before Sept 30, will pay a late file fee of $100.

Program enrollment for the 2007 contract period began Oct. 1, 2006, and was scheduled to end on June 1. The extension applies only to the enrollment period and does not extend the contract period.
