Norway Easter Fest volunteer Thelma Denlinger of Norway reacts to a carrot that 2-year-old Casey Raymond of South Paris pulled from her egg basket Saturday morning at the Norway Public Library. Casey’s mom, Carrie, said Casey bought the carrot at Fare Share Market for Cola, her pet black-dwarf bunny after looking for hidden eggs. Despite an overcast day that dropped snow flurries on the Easter Bunny, 320 people and children participated in the hunt, searching for eggs inside participating businesses up and down Main Street. “It was a bigger turnout than we expected. It was phenomenal, unbelievable,” Norway Recreation Director Debra Partridge said. “People who weren’t even participating were stopping their cars while driving down the street, watching the kids, and saying, ‘What a wonderful thing.'” Normally the event, which gets people into Main Street businesses to see what they have to offer, is held a week prior to Easter. But this year organizers believed it would be more successful if held on Easter weekend, Partridge said.
