Dear Sun Spots: I am a fifth-grade student at West Ridge Elementary School in Harlan, Iowa. My class is studying geography and the history of the United States.

I would greatly appreciate if you would please send me a souvenir, postcard, state map or any information about any sports teams, wildlife, or the state of Maine.

My teacher would especially like a car license plate for our class project.

Thank you for taking the time to read and consider helping our class project.

I may be reached at Courtney C. care of Mrs. Newlin’s Social Studies Class, West Ridge Elementary School, 1401 19th St., Harlan, IA 51537. – Courtney C., Harlan, Iowa.

Answer:
In case you and your teacher are not aware, you should consider contacting the state of Maine regarding your license plate request.

Sun Spots’ daughter had a similar project and was able to obtain these, without charge, through the state.

Contact the state of Maine’s Bureau of Motor Vehicles, which will provide sample license plates to teachers and students for school projects, free of charge.

You and other students may want to also check out some wonderful facts, trivia and more at the Maine’s secretary of state kids’ page at www.http://www.maine.gov/sos/kids/

To check into which sample plates you can order, check out the following link at www.state.me.us/sos/kids/government/licenseplates.html

Dear Sun Spots: The (N) next to a listing in the TV Guide indicates it is a new program as opposed to a rerun. – Jeff, Auburn.

Dear Sun Spots: I just read the answer to the TV Preview question, and I think that half of it isn’t quite right. I’m pretty sure the the (N) designation refers to a show that is being broadcast for the first time (as in “new”). – Andrea Keirstead, Farmington.

Answer:
Many thanks to both Jeff and Andrea for assistance here and hopefully it will help our readers while choosing programs to watch.
