LEWISTON – HealthSteps, a health education and prevention program for adults, has a wide range of classes being offered, with the core membership fee, including:
Lap Swim
Swim laps in the 25-meter, eight-lane pool supervised by a certified lifeguard. Mondays, Wednesdays from 6:05 to 7:30 a.m.; Fridays from 6:05 to 7:15 a.m.; and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:05 to 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. to noon.
Aquatic Fitness
Calorie-burning workout. While swimming skills are not needed, a comfort level in deep and shallow water is important. Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays from 6:30 to 7:15 a.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 to 11:45 a.m.
Dance Aerobics
Learn to dance while working out, from country line dancing and Latin, to Motown and disco. Wednesdays from 7 to 7:45 a.m.
TNT (Tone-N-Tighten)
The weighted workout focuses on strengthening the major muscle groups of the upper and lower body using resistance tubes, bands and weights. Mondays from 7 to 7:45 a.m.; Wednesdays from 7:45 to 8:30 a.m.
Step Aerobics
The workout offers a safe and low-impact option for those who would like a more intense class. Mondays from 7:45 to 8:30 a.m.
Open Track
It is an additional track time for HealthSteps members. An instructor will be in the area. Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 to 8:45 a.m.
Walk/Jog
An indoor track event that includes a group warm-up, strengthening, cool-down and stretching. Monday through Friday from 6:05 to 6:55 a.m.
Time to Stretch
Discover the benefits of relaxation and increasing flexibility. Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 to 7:20 a.m.; Fridays from 8:15 to 8:30 a.m.
Balance Ball Blast
Increase flexibility, improve coordination and develop strength while using an exercise ball. Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:20 to 8:10 a.m.
Step and Tone Interval
The class combines both worlds, alternating between low-impact step aerobics and total body strengthening exercises for an all-around workout. Fridays from 7:15 to 8:15 a.m.
Core and Stretch
An abdominal and lower back workout followed by total body stretching to increase flexibility. Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:15 to 8:45 a.m.
All core classes are held in the Bates College Merrill Gym. Classes will run from April 23 through May 25. The cost of a core membership is $40.
